What is the computer piracy?

The  computer piracy  includes copying, reproductions, using and the production of protected product without authors’ consent. In accordance with this definition  the most common forms of piracy are the trade of illegal  programs, the download of music and films from the internet without author’s permission.

It doesn’t matter how many copies or people it concerns. Neither does the purpose of doing this whether for profits or not.
Most common form of piracy is illegal copying based on making copy of software by individual people or companies against regulations of license agreement. The best exemplar showing such kind of the piracy may be a situation when someone borrows a copy of the software from colleague, copy it and then install on his computer instead of buying it legally. In the world there the rise in the computer piracy is connected with the illegal copying and usage of multimedia files such as films or music. The installment process of the software exposes the computer on harmful activity of various spy programs able to destroy our computer and whole database.  
The computer piracy brings about many loses.

Forms of the computer piracy

The piracy is developing in incredibly fast. We can distinguish five kinds of the piracy:

•    copying software or other things which has author’s rights without obtaining the consent of a licensor to spread them to others is treated as a theft and form of fencing. Program can be copied from one medium to another for example being recorded from DVDs, downloaded from the internet or published for further prevalence.

•  Installation of illegal software on hard disk. The seller in  the computer shops make their offer more attractive by seducing their clients with the appliances which have installed special programs.

•    Counterfeiting of  the computer program or the modem without copyrights is the less popular form of the computer piracy. Few years earlier it was based on counterfeiting multimedia materials, computer programs and selling them on a black market. This form is outdated because we can download almost everything for free from the internet.

• Web piracy provides the internet users with the access to websites containing illegal computer programs, music or films. It is the most common form of the piracy by the dint of constantly developing p2p networks. It allows  the download of files and make them accessible for the other users. It is self-perpetuating machine of the web piracy.  Five millions of songs is downloaded from these services every  week.

•      Software rental -  authorized users borrow other users who copy necessary information on their own disks. 

 It is very hard to stop computer piracy.

  The copying of illegal software without obtaining the license agreement by people and companies may result in the civil and the  criminal liability.
