The safety in the Internet

One of the possibilities created by the internet is a publication of  the users’ own contents. This useful property can be very risky because of the fact that our internet activity either made consciously or not are left in the shape of inscriptions or watching photos while web surfing which can be used by other people.
Importantly, to use the internet safely it is worth remembering that everything added by us will stay there for ever. Automatically created archive copies as well as copies made by other internet users make our content visible in the internet even though we delete it from the website. Moreover, we should control our privacy settings in social  websites as well as in  the  other programs we use for instance web browser. In the case of social websites we ought to limit the visibility of our personal data and do not show them other internet users but only selected one for example friends. We should bear in mind that even though we do not add information concerning our personal data, we can be indentified very easily.

  1. Use antivirus software.
  2. Open only messages sent by your friends.
  3. Be careful while downloading files from the internet.
  4. Avoid clicking on unknown links and attachments in e-mails.
  5. Do not give your personal data and passwords, don’t send your photos.
  6.  Protect your accounts on social services.
  7. Use only difficult  passwords which are the combination of letters and numbers.
  8. Read all regulations very carefully.
  9. Check whether the site you are going to log in has SSL protection.
  10. Remember that the person sitting on the other side is not always the person who claims to be.

In the reference to one of these rules we should point out that “ Safety in the Internet is also the knowledge how to prevent ourselves from computer viruses and other dangerous software. Computer may be infected very badly and  have an ability to absorb whole database from our computers. Viruses are able to copy and infect our hard disk. We should pay attention to the existence of dialers, programs which change users’ configuration of the modem. It is possible because dialer’s connect itself without the user’s permission by dialing 0-700. As a result the user has to pay a huge amount of money. None of instances can help in this case and the bill ought to be paid by the user".
