Copyright law in Poland

The Polish regulations of the copyright law and related laws consist of mention about the criminal liability for actions undertaken against copyright law. More specifically, its spreading without permission or against its conditions as well as ‘appropriation of copyrights’ which means attribution of the authorship of someone else work so called plagiary occurring in the Internet. However, there are no regulations which take into consideration the responsibility for its spreading after downloading  so this action cannot be subject to the criminal liability.

In the case of violations of the copyright there is a mention both of the civil and the criminal liability. Victims may file a lawsuit with  personal data of a person suspected of the computer piracy (who violated copyrights). The obtainment of such information based on the IP number can be provided by asking the internet supplier. What is important is the fact  that the trial is the last solution to the computer piracy. The victim  and the guilty  may reach a compromise about this dispute. The organizations for collective management of copyrights have an ability to undertake actions which prevent copyrights. One of such organizations is the Association of Authors ZAiKS managing song creators’ copyrights. Organizations works on the commission of their clients and their requirements. They have a chance for observing the regulations managed by them and belonging to other people.
